Welcome to the Ethiopia Integrated Youth Activity (Kefeta) Faculty Professional Development Program for Teaching Career Readiness! This program, designed for Ethiopian university and polytechnic college academic staff, has been made possible by the generous support of the American people through USAID
Course Outcomes
The ultimate goal of this course is to help higher education faculty, including academic staff at both universities and polytechnic colleges (TVETs), design and integrate career readiness teaching activities into their discipline-based courses.
To support you in achieving this goal, you will engage with the following course outcomes:
- Connect academic coursework to students’ career goals and skills development.
- Develop authentic assignments, projects, and activities to engage students in building career-ready skills.
- Create opportunities for students to engage with industry to see the relevance of coursework to their future goals.
The topics in this course progress through three modules moving from comprehensive thinking about a course to the most tangible outcomes of conducting specific activities. In the first module, we begin with a focus on articulating the goals of a course through a career-readiness lens. The next module moves toward identifying and planning the teaching methods most appropriate to meet those goals. The final module is the most hands-on, specifically focused on integrating industry experts and experiential learning activities into a course.
